Measuring matters

Drapery looks right when the rod is mounted high and wide and the panels hit the floor at the right length. We measure in person and recommend the right width and length for your fabric.

Process

In-home consultation (by appointment only) → fabric and style selection → measuring → written estimate → custom fabrication → installation and steaming.

Drapery styles explained

Pinch pleat: tailored, traditional folds. Works in formal living and dining rooms.
Ripple fold: even, soft S-shaped waves on a track. Modern, and the most popular choice with motorized tracks.
Grommet: casual and easy to slide, good for family rooms.
Rod pocket and tab top: relaxed looks for bedrooms and kids' rooms.

Fabric choices and our sun

Inland Empire sun is hard on fabric. Lined drapery protects the face fabric from fading and hangs more fully. Light, natural linens and linen blends are a big 2026 look. Velvets and heavier weaves suit bedrooms and media rooms. For west-facing windows, we usually recommend a lining, or a solar shade behind the drapery to carry the heat and UV load.

Roman shades in detail

Flat Romans have clean, modern folds. Hobbled Romans have soft cascading folds that stay visible when the shade is down. Relaxed Romans have a gentle curve at the bottom. Romans can be lined, blackout-lined and cordless, which makes them a soft alternative to blinds in kitchens, bedrooms and offices.

Hardware matters

The rod or track is part of the design. We match finishes to your hardware and lighting, use center supports on wide windows so rods don't sag, and recommend ceiling-mounted tracks when you want a tall, gallery-style look.

Drapery for big sliders

A wide patio door is a great place for drapery on a traverse rod or track: panels stack to the side when the door is open and close fully at night. Paired with a solar shade, it handles glare by day and privacy by night.

Room-by-room ideas

Living room: floor-length linen-blend panels on a high rod, layered over shutters or solar shades.
Primary bedroom: blackout-lined drapery over a blackout roller, for a dark, quiet room on summer mornings.
Dining room: pinch-pleat panels in a richer fabric for a finished, formal look.
Kids' rooms: cordless roman shades or simple panels on a sturdy rod, out of reach of climbing.
Home office: sheers to soften glare, with a solar shade behind for screen work.

Why custom drapery is worth it

Ready-made panels come in a few fixed lengths and widths, so they often look skimpy, puddle unevenly or stop short of the floor. Custom drapery is made to your exact width and length with the right fullness, so it looks deliberate, closes fully and hangs straight for years.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put drapery over plantation shutters?

Yes. We mount the rod high and wide so the panels clear the shutters when they're open.

Lined or unlined?

Lined drapery hangs better and protects the fabric from sun. Blackout or thermal linings add light control.

What are roman shades?

Fabric shades that fold into neat pleats as they rise. They're available cordless.

Can drapery be motorized?

Yes, with a motorized track. We'll quote it when we design.

How long should drapery be?

Usually just touching or slightly breaking on the floor. We'll recommend a length for your style.

Do you sell drapery fabric only?

We provide custom drapery that we measure and install.
